Ammonium persulfate

Ammonium persulfate with the chemical formula (NH 4 ₎ 2 _S 2 _O 8 _is a mineral compound with a molar mass of 228 ٫ 18. It is used as an oxidizing agent in polymer chemistry, the tanning process (etching) and as a cleaning and bleaching agent.

It dissolves well in water and is much more soluble than its salt, potassium persulfate. Dissolving this salt in water is an endothermic process.

Ammonium persulfate is produced by the electrolysis of a cold, concentrated solution of ammonium sulfate in high-current sulfuric acid.
